"Had a great few days on snail. Joe was really helpful and gave us confidence to head out on our own. Made our way to Lancaster and back, fabulous views of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. I think we will return."
Tom and Jennie, Scarborough, 3rd October 2016

"We have very much enjoyed our three night stay on Snail. No over boards yet but there is still time! The boat is very cosy especially when the fire is lit and the bed was comfortable. Everything you need is on board this compact but comfortable narrowboat. Barry has taken to the helm very well and I sit inside and watch the world go by. Many thanks to Joe and 'snails pace' holidays. P.S. We've just lost the umbrella overboard!"

"A break with a difference on Snail. Clean, warm and relaxing. The weather was good to us. Lots of wildlife and history on the way. We will be back for more. Thank you"

"A poor life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare. It's been a brilliant trip on Snail. Very relaxing and lots of fun. It's a beautiful boat inside and out-a real credit to you Ange and Joe. We've really enjoyed ourselves. The Lancaster ducks squabbling over crumbs of rice cakes really made us laugh."

Laura and Andy, Old Trafford, Manchester, 5th September 2016

"We went down to bridge 80 and back, loved every moment. Lancaster lovely city. Saw 5 herons, 2 buzzards, 1 kingfisher, 20 swans, 300 ducks, 1 pike, 122 cattle, 350 sheep, 1 squirrel and met a lot of lovely people on the way. Boat performed well, a lovely holiday all in all. Thanks to Joe and Ange for everything."
Melvin and Jan and Co-co the dog, Hastings, 3rd September 2016

"The Snail, such a handsome canal boat! My son James and I have had a very good time on board. The weather has been perfect with hot sunshine all the way to bridge 114 and back. The canal scenery is really interesting and everyone friendly. Had some interesting conversations and a visit aboard by an ex racing greyhound that actually belonged to a radiographer that had worked in the Falkland Islands-our home. A very good briefing by Joe, he reassured us before setting off on our first canal journey. It certainly won't be our last. Thank you Joe and Angela."
Pete and James, Falkland Islands, 25th August 2016

"Lovely few days bobbing along the canal. Hest Bank for the first night , very peaceful. Great breakfast at the cafĂ© by the beach. Planned to stop at Lancaster  but no moorings so carried on to Galgate. Very glad we did, beautiful scenery on the way. Stressful 27 point turn in the marina then another peaceful mooring. Good food at pub and lovely big garden. Tootled back on Tuesday seeing a kingfisher and tiny yellow ducklings on the way for final night just outside Tewitfield. Great pizzas at the Longlands hotel and another peaceful night. All in all, a great first canal holiday with stunning scenery and amazing weather on a cosy and comfortable boat. Thankyou. "

"First time on the Lancaster canal and first narrowboat experience. Everything we expected and more. The boys loved it, real swallows and amazons, no computers or tablets just nature, fantastic. Pete was great, Joe very supportive. Elliot says the kettle is awesome because it whistles. Thankyou Joe and Angela for a great holiday."

"This was our first narrowboat holiday. Neither of us had a clue how to operate a boat but after Joe's tuition Andy took to the steering like a duck to water. I on the other hand didn't but with patience improved. We had lovely meals at the Canal turn and the Waterwitch. Snail is a lovely, comfortable boat and we both had a brilliant time. Thankyou very much Joe and Angela."

"An amazing three days we had on the snail on the Lancaster canal. The snail was amazing, nice and cosy day and night. The people we met on the canal were friendly and always eager to help. Thankyou for the experience. Will recommend to other people and will definitely be back."

"A surprise birthday treat for my husband, and our first solo trip. I think the most beautiful canal we've travelled and we've done most! Certainly sparked retirement plans to do them all. Snail is a fun, quirky boat, comfy and friendly. Thankyou both for letting us borrow her.
Maggie and Dave, Hull, 3rd June 2014

"Thanks for helping to make our first adventure into the world of narrowboats and canals a great one"

"Relaxing great time even in the rain!"
Bill and Sylvia, 9th May 2014

"Had a lovely weekend on the Snail. It really was a snail's pace, just as we wanted. Working in Manchester you forget what a lovely world we live in. Joe couldn't have been more helpful, and explained everything thoroughly. The welcome pack was a nice gift. As for the boat itself, it was a pleasure, the fire made the weekend so warm and cosy. All in all a wonderful experience."
Steve and Ellie, 14th April 2014

"We had a lovely time exploring the canals on snail's pace. It was very cosy because of the wood burning stove. We brought the bikes and had an amazing time exploring the countryside and walking the tow path. Whenever we got back to the boat there was always a nice warm fire going. We will definitely recommend it."
Anna, Pat, Ron and Pip the dog, 5th April 2014

"We have enjoyed our week on Snail. Exploring a part of the canal system we can't visit on our own boat. The scenery is wonderful, the trees still have their Autumn colours and we saw a surprising amount of wildlife considering the time of year. Herons, cormorants, kingfishers, woodpeckers, rabbits, squirrels, donkeys plus of course many fields of sheep, cows and horses. The weather was mostly dry and bright another bonus for November. Snail is a quirky little boat and we have been warm and comfy on board. The highlight for us was sitting at Hest Bank this morning watching the tide come in across Morecambe Bay."
Norma and Carl, Kent, 18th November 2013

"We have had a fabulous time cruising on the Snail. Lovely and warm with the woodburner. The hamper was a lovely gesture. Thankyou Joe and Angela. Marley the dog had a good time too, especially when he fell in the water. Snail is really practical and well laid out for a hire boat. Really easy to handle. The canal scenery is beautiful with loads of nice places to stop off. It takes you directly into Lancaster which is a must stop. Sadly I sailed right past and couldn't turn around because it was too dark, so don't make my mistake. All in all I couldn't recommend Snails Pace Holidays more. Joe and Angela are fantastic hosts and can't help out anymore then they do. Love it. Thanks very much. Cheers."
Phil, Gill, Bradley and Marley, Blackburn, 3rd November 2013

"The sign next to the dining table said 'relax' and that is what we did. "
John, Sylvia and Jamie, 1st November 2013

"The Snail was a little gem. After the necessary tuition from Joe we were off to a confident start. Our three days aboard proved to be very relaxing. The woodburner kept us cosy. Sailed all the way to Galgate and back. Thankyou for a perfect holiday. The welcome basket was a lovely gesture. We would definitely recommend your vessel to friends and family for the future. Happy days!"
Lisa and Bruno, Huddersfield, 28th October

"We had a fabulous three days on the Snail, cruising during the day, even the rain didn't spoil it! Cosy at night, the woodburner does a fantastic job. Comfy beds and good company. Would recommend to friends. Thankyou."
Bob, Anne and Lucy, 19th October

"The Snail is a great little craft. Great canal and scenery. The best places to eat are Canal Turn and the Plough Inn. Would recommend the Snail to friends and family. Thankyou for the welcome basket, a very welcoming gesture."
Cath and Maureen and Dave, Manchester, 10th October 2013

"Fantastic mid-week break. Great weather for end of September, only lit the fire for one evening. Beware canal turn pub, canal turn pub finishes serving meals at 8pm, however had a takeaway from Chinese and can recommend it. We loved Lancaster and recommend spending at least one full day there to enjoy it to the full. Thanks for a great break to Joe and Angela who couldn't be more helpful. Best bed on a boat ever!"
Phil and Mo, Selby, 27th September 2013

"Had an enjoyable few days, shame about the constant rain, but we had a few dry spells! Mooring and the swing bridge were quite a challenge but we had a laugh. Very cosy at night with the stove to keep us warm. Next time we will come earlier in the year. Thanks to Angela for the lovely surprise package and to Joe for his expertise in handling the boat."
Bridget and Allan, Blackpool, 20th September 2013

"Great to remember our boating days. Despite awful weather, first autumn storms, we had a great time. Tied up outside the Royal at Bolton-Le-Sands and explored the area. Loved the shore, villages and woods. Boat is great in the wind, and felt very safe and secure, warm and cosy with fire going."
Julie and Martin, Cumbria, 17th September 2013

"First time on a narrowboat, we had quite an adventure sailing to Lancaster and back. Only one wet day and reasonable warm for the time of year. Boat well equipped and performed well. An enjoyable experience which we will look back on with fond memories. Nice and cosy in the evenings with fire lit, enjoying a well deserved whiskey."
Paul and Babara, Colwyn Bay, 13th September 2013

"First time aboard a narrowboat, great experience, would definitely do it again."
Craig and Elaine, Prestwick, 12th August 2013

"We had a fab time celebrating a 40th birthday aboard Snail. The boys soon got the hang of cruising and we travelled to Lancaster and back sampling some of the lovely pubs along the way. We did unfortunately have a day of pouring rain, the boys were very good and continued despite being soaked, whilst we girls enjoyed a few glasses of wine in the comfort and dry! Thankyou for a lovely holiday."
Ella, Dave, Laura and Andrew, Wrexham, 6th August 2013

" Fantastic holiday. Nice and relaxing, just what the doctor ordered! Aiden phrased it perfectly when he said it was awesome. Thankyou very much for everything, it's definitely a holiday we'll be doing again."
Dave, Donna and Aiden, from Barnsley, 3rd August 2013

"This was our third canal holiday on the Lancaster, our first aboard Snail, and by far the best. The weather has been superb throughout and the scenery fantastic. Lots of lovely places to moor up. Our favourite spots are Hest Bank, Lancaster, Galgate and Garstang. Joe and Angela have been very attentive, and quickly sorted out any minor boat problems. Snail is the best value boat on the canal."
Richard and Jeanette, Richmond, North Yorkshire, 26th July 2013

"Great holiday and fantastic scenery. We both enjoyed every minute and can't believe how lucky we were with the weather. Mooring was fun at times and a bit wobbly on the planks, but we managed fine, it all adds to the fun. Thankyou Joe and Angela for letting us use your lovely boat Snail."
Karen and Colin and Peppa Pig, Romford, 12th July 2013
"Aboard for four nights, a comfortable cruise to Billsborough and back. We found the boat to be well laid out and easy to handle. Some of the most beautiful canal that we have cruised. We intend to hire again soon. Relaxing and comfortable. Thankyou for a great break."
Helen and Ian, 1st July 2013

"First timers we took to it like ducks to water. An absolutely lovely boat, all you need for a lovely break. Would definitely come back for more. By the way the pub at Hest bank is superb. Thanks Angela and Joe for such a good time."
Stu and Mel, Durham, 27th June 2013

"What a chirpy little boat! We enjoyed chugging along to Garstang, finding some lovely mooring points along the way. Couldn't master the T.V. but what the heck. Plenty of magazines to read and canal paths to walk. Quite an eye opener is the Lancaster canal, especially with the help of the guide book. Thankyou Joe and Ange."
Dave and Marge, Southport, 15th June 2013

"A very enjoyable time. Although we weren't far from home, it was another world entirely. The usual problems re mooring and grounding were soon sorted. Superb weather so didn't venture as far we could have, but it was just nice to totally 'chill', maybe another time.... Thanks Snail people!"
Anne and Graeme, Morecambe, 9th June 2013
"After a shaky start all went well. The kids really enjoyed it. Three days isn't enough though. Thanks and regards"

"Fantastic 10th Birthday Party for my daughter! 7 girls played games, cruised on the roof, jumped around and had a go at steering. Joe was fantastic, clear instructions on safety and fun ideas for the kids. A different birthday party enjoying the canal. Thankyou Angela and Joe for the opportunity!"
Lancaster, 11th November 2012,
"Snail was good. We did fishing and steering. The rain and hailstones were not as good but Daddy got us out. The kitchen was my room at night under Tony and Auntie Cathy, and then Rob, Sue and Jessica, and Evie came to visit. A dog ran onto the boat! We had a lovely time."
William(age5), Alison and Steve, Brookhouse, 5th November 2012

It was so lovely to leave Tewitfield with confidence, thanks to Joe's excellent tuition and friendly calm from then on it was a stress-free experience. "Not having done canal boat holidays before, the first couple of days were quite stressful but after this we settled into it and relaxed. Snail has the things you need to get by for a week, and who needs more when you want to chill. We have enjoyed our little trip despite the hit and miss of the weather. Turned out to be lovely."
Andrew and Caron, 23rd September 2012
"We had a very relaxing week on the Snail. When we have previously done canal boat holidays we have tried to go as far as possible in the time we had and had locks and bridges to do, this week has been a lot more restful and chilled out! The boat is lovely and has everything you need on board and we love the solid fuel stove, keeps the boat warm and cosy!"

Barbara, Peter and George, Blackburn, 30th August 2012

"Our three nights onboard Snail have been lovely. Very relaxing and a much needed change of pace. Once we got our heads around steering and stopped avoiding U-boats, we took to canal boating like ducks to water, and there were plenty of these, lots of wildlife to admire along with some amazing views. Thankyou for letting us stay, you were very welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and now we are hooked. Definitely be back. Thanks so much. "
Stacey, Steve and Josh, St. Annes, 27th August 2012

"We have had a wonderful six days on Snail, the boat has everything you need and more. Snail is not any old boat, she has been restored with love, and a lot has gone into making her comfy and cosy. Mooring up was a challenge, but with Joe and Angela helping it made it easier.
A big thankyou to Joe and Angela for all their help, not forgetting Fin and Rudy. Best wishes for the future."
Stewart and Linda, Ossett, 24th August 2012

"Wonderful way to celebrate our youngests 16th birthday, drifting along the Lancaster Canal. Beautiful weather, and a great way to see our local countryside. Unfortunate accident at the end. One step too far onto the bank for the Captain, a splash and a broken wrist! Future passengers beware!"
